In 2005, Hirsch developed the today commonly known and widely used h-index, the shortest quantitative indicator of the cumulative inﬂuence and relevance of the academic work of an individual researcher, a research group or an institution (university, institute, journal, etc.).
The new revolution in science is based on a shift from computational science supporting research towards an integration of concepts, tools and computer science theorems into the very structure of all other sciences. The milestones in the development of scientiﬁc computing are indicated.
